Hugh Futrell is the chief executive officer and co-shareholder of Hugh Futrell Corporation.
Educated at the University of California, and a native-born Santa Rosan, Futrell has been working in land-use planning, development and construction, and asset management since 1979. As a principal, he has managed more than forty-five development projects, including single-family, master communities, market-rate multifamily, lower-income, commercial and midrise mixed use projects, and healthcare facilities. Hugh Futrell Corporation currently manages approximately 250 residential rental units and 130,000 SF of commercial space for controlled affiliates.
Futrell served as chairperson of the Santa Rosa Redevelopment Agency, chairperson of the Santa Rosa Housing Authority, two-terms as elected member and President of the Santa Rosa City Schools Board, chairperson of the Mobilehome Advisory Committee for the City, and member of the boards of the Committee to Preserve Santa Rosa Creek, the Sonoma County Museum, Main Street Santa Rosa, and the Sonoma County Drug Abuse Council, as well as other community organizations and local government committees. He is currently a board member of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Action Organization.
Hugh Futrell Corporation and Hugh Futrell have received various awards, including the 2011 award for “Best Small or Midsize Business” from the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, Infrastructure Champion Award (twice) from the American Council of Civil Engineers, as well as awards for sustainable design and sustainable project implementation and projects of the year (Museum on the Square; Downtown Apartments; Railroad Square Terrace).
Futrell is a member of the Urban Land and Design Build Institutes. He is a licensed California general contractor and real estate broker.
